Herb Kessner, Ph.D.

Dr. Kessner is a senior consultant providing strategic and behavioral consulting and coaching services in facilitating change and maximizing performance. His technology and marketing experience allows him to facilitate and implement rapid, real-world solutions for critical needs.

He is founder of MergerTeam and is on the consulting and facilitation staff of General Electric Power Systems, a facilitator for Raytheon Corp, and is a product development and marketing consultant to SF Bay Area high-technology start-ups. He has served as a senior consultant in William M. Mercer’s national Mergers and Acquisitions Consulting practice, conducting large scale strategic, post-merger integration and HR/change management projects with high-technology organizations, leadership and teams.

Dr. Kessner has over 25 years experience in the areas of information technology research & development, sales and marketing in the computer and investment banking industries, product development, human resources consulting and facilitation, and outplacement and training.
Prior to joining Mercer, he was consulting psychologist with Drake Beam Morin, Inc. (DBM); developing, providing testing and assessment, competencies design, succession planning, change management and outplacement consulting services to major private and public sector organizations undergoing reengineering and staffing changes.
Prior to DBM, Dr. Kessner was western regional sales manager for NEC Home Electronics and Vice President of product development for Data Broadcasting Company. He has held senior data processing sales positions at IBM, and served as Vice President of Institutional Corporate Bonds for the investment banking firms of Lehman Kuhn Loeb, and Donaldson Lufkin and Jenrette (DLJ).

Dr. Kessner holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and MS in Industrial and Management Engineering from Columbia University (recipient of National Science Foundation Fellowship for graduate study), and MS in Counseling Psychology from San Francisco State University, and a Ph.D. in Psychology from Northern California Graduate University.

Dr. Kessner is an Adjunct Professor at the University of San Francisco (USF) graduate school of management. He is an Executive Coach, has published in the area of motivation and training, and speaks and facilitates workshops in the areas of organizational behavior, sales skills, and the human side of information technology implementation.
